What FCA Authorisation Means

As an FCA-regulated firm, TERN is required to meet strict standards of conduct, governance, systems and controls, and consumer protection.

TERN operates as a regulated network, supporting authorised advisers and firms who provide mortgage and equity release advice to consumers. While TERN does not provide advice directly to consumers via its website, it is responsible for the oversight, governance and support of advisers operating within the network.

We are committed to:

Ensuring advisers within the TERN network are appropriately qualified, competent and supervised
Maintaining clear, fair and not misleading communications
Supporting good consumer outcomes and treating customers fairly
Meeting all obligations under the FCA’s Consumer Duty
Operating in line with the Senior Managers & Certification Regime (SM&CR)

Our FCA Permissions

TERN is authorised by the Financial Conduct Authority to carry on regulated activities including:

Mortgage and equity release intermediation (arranging and making arrangements with a view to regulated mortgage contracts and lifetime mortgages)
Advising on regulated mortgage contracts (including lifetime mortgages, within the scope of our permissions)
Insurance distribution activities (non-investment insurance) (including advising on and arranging protection and general insurance products associated with mortgage and equity release advice)

These permissions allow TERN and its appointed representatives to provide regulated advice and intermediary services in accordance with FCA rules.
